Markers and color schemes associated with the concept of collective identity and physicality for competition are removed and disrupted through acts of cutting, exposing, removing and reattaching: collective authorization encoded and inscribed in mass-produced materiality are disassociated from their original function and context for subversive re-rendering and offers a platform for a new interpretation. The role of the exhibition space also comes into play, revealing and evoking physicality of viewers’ engagement with the artwork and their trace – footprints, wear and tear – in his/her proximal relationship to space and objects and its interpenetration in a continuous, unfixed and constantly evolving equation.
